MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 12, 2017) â€" The two preseason top ranked Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball teams met Tuesday evening at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for their second AAC matches of the year. Led by eight players with multiple kills, the visiting Union College Bulldogs came away victorious over Milligan College in three sets, 25-9, 25-17, 25-21.

Milligan (2-8, 0-2 AAC) got off to a slow start but battled back to take leads in the middle of both the second and third sets, but Union (11-4, 2-0 AAC), which is receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches top 25 poll, had all the answers.

Milligan led 14-10 in the second game before a 13-2 Union run, including a 9-0 stretch, helped the Bulldogs pull away. Later in the third set, Milligan led 17-13 until a 5-1 Union run tied the set at 18 apiece and the Bulldogs followed with six of the last eight points to close the match.

Milligan saw five players register multiple kills, led by senior
Marissa Langford who had eight.
Alora Ricker and
Julia Codispoti had six kills apiece,
Kellee Geren had 22 assists, and
Alyssa Rupert had 21 digs. Also getting some good touches was
Julie Dockery who tallied two kills, two service aces, two digs and two block assists.

Milligan will play on the road at UVa-Wise on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., then the Buffs will be at home again over the weekend. On Friday, Milligan hosts Allen University at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Milligan hosts Columbia College at 11 a.m.
