WISE, Va. (Sept. 13, 2017) â€" The Milligan College women's volleyball team came up short as the University of Virginia at Wise Cavs won the final three sets and last three points of the match to take a 19-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-12 victory Wednesday evening.
 
Senior Marissa Langford with 20 kills led Milligan and senior Alora Ricker tallied nine kills while junior Julie Dockery followed with eight kills. As a whole, the Buffs had a total of 49 kills.
 
Sophomore Kellee Geren had a total of 43 assists for the Buffaloes, just ten shy of her career high 53. Junior libero Alyssa Rupert earned 25 digs while Ricker earned 17. Junior Rebecca Maxwell also helped the Buffs earning 16 digs.
 
The Buffs got off to a great start winning the first two sets of the match. The Cavs responded taking sets three and four. The fifth set was tied at 10-10 but UVA at Wise closed the match with five of the last seven points. The Buffs trailed 13-12 and the Cavs had back to back kills to end it.
 
Up next, the Buffs return home for two Appalachian Athletic Conference contests. On Friday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Milligan faces Allen University and on Saturday, Sept. 16, the Buffs face Columbia College at 11 a.m.
