Volleyball drops three-setter to Point

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 22, 2017)- The Milligan College women's volleyball team traveled to West Point, Georgia, Friday afternoon to play in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest against the Point Skyhawks. The Buffs battled hard but dropped a close 3-0 decision to Point University (21-25, 20-25, 19-25).
 
The Buffs lost a very close first set to the Skyhawks. Milligan and Point had 15 apiece until the Skyhawks took off and earned the final point with an ace. Though the Buffs had a total of 14 kills in the first game, Point had a total of 16. Milligan led in the second set by two points until the Skyhawks tied it up at 15. The Buffs trailed but were not able to gain the lead again compiling eight kills in comparison to Point's 16. The third game was much like the first two. After 12 apiece the Skyhawks took off and Milligan was not capable of recovering.
 
Milligan was led by senior Marissa Langford for the sixth match straight with 14 kills. Senior Alora Ricker and freshman Julia Codispoti each earned five kills while sophomore Julie Dockery helped the Buffs with four kills. Ricker also tallied 10 digs. Alongside Ricker, junior libero Alyssa Rupert and sophomore setter Kellee Geren had 10 digs apiece. Geren earned 24 assists.
 
Up next, the Buffs are on the road to Waleska, Georgia, to face another AAC contestant, Reinhardt University, on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m.
