Men's soccer falls to Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Sept. 3, 2017) â€" The Milligan College men's soccer team hit the road to take on the Faulkner University Eagles. For the first time in five games the Buffaloes were held scoreless and lost 5-0 on Sunday night.
 
Goalkeeper Nick Smith currently leads the Appalachian Athletic Conference with 36 saves on the season. Though the Eagles had five goals, Smith tallied eight saves moving him to 199 for his career.  The next closest goalie in the AAC has 16 saves this season.
 
The Buffalo offense could only muster two shots while the Eagles tallied 20 shots, 14 of those shots being on goal.  The first goal by the Eagles was scored by a free kick from the top left of the box 21 minutes into the game and the second goal by Faulkner was scored 35 seconds after.
 
The Eagles continued its attack in the first half scoring one more goal and then connected two more goals in the second half despite Smith's six saves.
 
The Buffaloes are on the road again to play the University of Pikeville on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7p.m. They will return home Sunday, Sept. 10, at 5p.m. as they face off Cumberland University.
