Jonathan Russell netted the game winner in the final minute of action, and the Milligan College men's soccer team came away with a massive 1-0 road win over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bryan College Saturday afternoon. With the win, Milligan defeated Bryan (8-5-2, 4-3-1 AAC) for the first time since 2014, and improved their record to 6-6-2 overall and 2-4-2 in conference play.
RUSSELL SCORES IN FINAL MINUTE
Despite Bryan dominating the shot total and possession, Milligan's defense stayed strong until the offense finally came through in the 89th minute.
Harry Griffin delivered a pass to Russell who then found the back of the net for his second goal of the season to help send the Buffs to victory.
The assist was Griffin's seventh of the season, which leads the team.
The Lions made one final push in the 90th minute as Artur Dombrowski attempted to strike one through the posts, but Milligan keeper,
Luke Dove, denied Dombrowski with his seventh and final save of the match.

Milligan was outshot 22-3 for the match including 7-2 on shots on frame.
Joel Dominguez, Russell and
Luis de la Torre each attempted one shot a piece. Defensively, the Buffs recorded five blocks, while the Lions posted zero.
MILLIGAN IMPROVING DOWN THE STRETCH
With only two matches left this season, the Buffaloes continued their late season push to qualify for the AAC tournament, which takes the top eight teams in the league. Milligan currently sits in the final qualifying spot with eight points and is now only two points back of sixth place.
The Buffs are now 2-0-2 in their last four conference matches after starting 0-4 in AAC play. Milligan handed Bryan their second shutout of the season and snapped their three-match win streak.

The Buffs return to Anglin Field for their final two matches of the season as they host Union Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. and Columbia International Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. Both AAC opponents rank ahead of Milligan in the conference standings.
