Kellee Geren and
Julie Dockery were named to the 2018 all-tournament team as the Milligan College volleyball team finished runner-up at the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament after being swept by Reinhardt in straight sets (14-25, 21-25, 14-25) Saturday afternoon. The match was held at the MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Despite the loss, Milligan (25-6) will continue their season at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, as they join the regular season and tournament champions, Reinhardt (33-6), as the two representatives from the AAC.
BY THE NUMBERS
Outside hitter,
Elise Gregory, led the Buffaloes with seven kills on 21 attempts, while registering seven digs. Dockery followed with six kills on 12 attempts to go along with three errors for a .250 hitting percentage.
Geren was accredited with 17 assists and also added in six digs for the match. Fresh off a record breaking performance,
Alyssa Rupert, scooped up a match-high 12 digs. Rupert surpassed the school record for digs in a season in Friday's victory over Point.
Overall, the Eagles attack was too much for Milligan as Reinhardt posted a .330 attacking percentage compared to the Buffs .081. Carlee Baxter, the AAC setter of the year, guided the Eagles offense with 36 assists and was named the tournament MVP.
