No. 25 women's basketball makes it seven straight wins

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 28, 2018) â€" Led by Emily Kiser's 14 points, fourteen members of the No. 25 Milligan College women's basketball team entered the scoring column, and the Buffaloes ran away with an 84-50 decision over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Truett McConnell University Wednesday evening inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
 
The win improved Milligan's (7-0, 5-0 AAC) winning streak to seven games and marked the longest winning streak by head coach Rich Aubrey's program since the 2015-16 team won nine straight games, also to start the season.
 
BUFFS TAKE OFF EARLY
Milligan trailed 8-3 three minutes into the contest before scoring the next 10 points as part of an 18-4 run to finish the first quarter. It put the Buffs into the lead for good, and they were quick to put the game away after that. Five Buffs scored during the 10-0 run, and Emma Kate Brown had eight points at the end of the first quarter.
 
Milligan led 45-27 at the half and held a lead of at least 16 for the entire second half. Kiser hit a three from the corner to make it 59-34 midway through the third quarter and a layup off a great feed from Rebecca Maxwell to make it 66-36 at the end of the third quarter. Freshman Halie Padgett gave the Buffs their largest lead of the game at 78-41 with two made free throws midway through the fourth.
 
IN THE BOX SCORE
Behind Kiser's game high 14 points, Brown and Kaely Gose each scored 10 as the only other Buffs in double figures. Mackenzie Raizor and Teal Davis followed with seven apiece. Sarah Robinson, Andi Lamb, Kasey Gordon and Padgett all had six.
 
Robinson registered the game high in rebounds with eight alongside four assists and two steals. Raizor had six rebounds as one of 14 Buffs to pull down at least one board.
 
NATIONAL NUMBERS
Milligan, which made a big jump to move into the No. 25 spot nationally in the latest NAIA poll, scored slightly over its average per game (82.7), one of four team statistics in the top 10 nationally.
 
On top of four team statistics inside the top 10, four individuals entered the day ranking inside the top 10, including Lamb who is No. 1 in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage.
 
FOR TRUETT MCCONNELL
Sydney Rumble scored 12 to lead the Bears (2-6, 1-5 AAC), who lost their fourth straight.
 
UP NEXT
Milligan hits the road for Columbia, South Carolina, to face AAC foe Allen University (4-4, 3-3 AAC) Saturday at 2 p.m. before returning home next week for two games at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse (Wednesday vs. Montreat and Saturday vs. Columbia).
