Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Milligan's road troubles continue as they fall at Allen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 1, 2018) â€" Aaron Levarity registered his eighth double-double of the year, but the Milligan College men's basketball team dropped their second straight road contest with a 91-85 loss to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Allen University Saturday.

With the loss, Milligan fell to 6-4 (3-3 AAC) on the season and have now lost three of their last four games. Allen improved to 4-7 (2-4 AAC) with the victory.

FINAL MINUTES DOOM BUFFS COMEBACK
After trailing by as many as 14 points with 9:44 remaining in the contest, the Buffaloes used an 18-4 run capped off by a pair of made free throws by Levarity to draw even with the Yellow Jackets at the 4:25 mark. Both teams would trade the next 12 points until a three by Allen's Devonte James put the Yellow Jackets back on top for good with 2:37 left.

Levarity would draw Milligan within one on a made bucket in the paint, but that would be the closest the Buffs would get as Allen scored nine of the final 15 points to pull out the win.

Milligan held the lead for most of the first half and even led by as many as 11 points thanks to a 16-5 run over the course of a five minute stretch. Levarity started the first half run with a three and Bo Pless capped it off with a made three of his own.

Allen responded with an 11-0 run to tie the game at 30 all with 5:12 remaining and both teams would struggle to score the rest of the half as the Yellow Jackets held a 37-36 advantage going into the break.

BY THE NUMBERS
The senior, Levarity, finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds on 6-of-12 shooting. Levarity entered the contest leading the AAC in scoring and rebounding, while also ranking in the top three nationally in offensive rebounds per game, total rebounds per game and total rebounds.

Desean Green poured in a game-high 19 points while shooting 70 percent from the field and finishing 5-of-5 from the free throw line. The junior also finished with a career-high seven assists. Redshirt junior Tyler Nichols followed with 14 and Jacob Cawood added 13 to round out the four Buffs in double figures.

Mike Featherston and Tyler Faulkenberry just missed out on double-figures as they scored nine and seven points respectively.

It was a fantastic shooting day for both squads as Milligan finished 57.4 percent from the field, while Allen shot 55.9 percent. Both teams shot over 40 percent from three, but the Yellow Jackets were able to knock in nine compared to the Buffs six.

The biggest difference in the game came at the charity stripe where Allen drained 16-of-19 attempts, while Milligan finished 17-of-26. Allen also outrebounded the Buffs 32 to 30 on the day.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Cameron Sembly with 18 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the field. Sembly was followed by Demetrius Richardson, Devonte James and Vernon Jackson who all finished in double-figures. Leroy Williams added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
