Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 25 women's basketball wins eighth straight game

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 1, 2018) â€" Senior Andi Lamb led with 17 points while junior Emily Kiser came off the bench to score 15, and the No. 25 Milligan College women's basketball team won its eighth straight game to open the season Saturday. Milligan defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Allen University, 68-62, on the road.

Milligan (8-0, 6-0 AAC) continued its hottest start to a season since the 2015-16 squad opened 9-0, and the Buffs stayed within half a game of No. 19 Bryan College (8-1, 7-0 AAC) for the conference lead. The win also avenged two losses to Allen (4-5, 3-4 AAC) from last season and improved Milligan's record to 3-2 against Allen since the Yellow Jackets joined the AAC for the 2016-17 season.

A back and forth game, Milligan trailed by four at the end of the first quarter and led by three at the halftime break before heading into the fourth quarter all tied up at 49. The game was tied six times and featured six lead changes, but the Buffs opened the final period with a spurt that put them up by nine, their largest lead of the game, with under five minutes left.

Lamb and Kiser were the only two Buffs in double figures, although nine entered the scoring column. Following Lamb and Kiser were Sarah Robinson with nine points and seven rebounds and Emma Kate Brown with eight points off the bench.

For Allen, three Yellow Jackets reached double figures in scoring, including Resac DeGraffenreidt who had a game high 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting off the bench.

Up next, Milligan returns home for its next two games, both AAC games at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. First up is Montreat College next Wednesday followed by Columbia College next Saturday. After that, the Buffs will not be home again until 2019.
