Buffs send seniors off in style

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 17, 2018)- In the final regular season game, and the seniors' last home game as a Buffalo, the Milligan College women's basketball team knocked off St. Andrews University 81-50 at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

Milligan won its third straight game to improve to 14-10 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, 18-12 overall. St. Andrews fell to 7-17 in the AAC, and 10-18 overall.

SENIORS' BIG DAY
Seniors Courtney Wilson and Madison Wilson put on a show in their final appearance at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse as they took down the Lady Knights 81-50. C. Wilson led the charge with 14 points and four rebounds. M. Wilson finished the game with eight points, six of those from behind the arc, and three assists.

On top of their stellar performances, the Buffs collectively drained 14 shots from behind the arc, with M. Wilson leading the charge. She totaled two of the 14 in the game. Only Andi Lamb and and Kaely Gose would tally two each for the Buffs, as eight other players nailed one throughout the game.

CONTROL FROM THE START
C. Wilson got things started in the first 20 seconds of the game with great post work in the paint.  Shortly after, M. Wilson continued the scoring by draining a 3-pointer off an assist by Lamb. The Buffs would not trail the remainder of the game. With some streaky shooting from behind the arc, Emily Kiser, Gose and Emma Kate Brown led the charge as the Buffs would extend their lead by 21 points following a 22-3 run to close out the half.

MILLIGAN LEADERS
Milligan was led in scoring by C. Wilson with 14 points, followed by Lamb with 11 and M. Wilson with eight. Sarah Robinson led the Buffs in rebounds with 10.

FOR ST. ANDREWS
Morgan Perkins led St. Andrews in scoring with a game-high 18 points, followed by Samantha Ring with 10. Ellen Dukes led the Lady Knights in rebounds with 11, followed by Perkins with nine.

NEXT UP
Milligan has wrapped up the seventh seed moving into the AAC tournament next week at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn. The Buffs will begin quarterfinal play on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
