Baseball swept at No. 15 Middle Georgia

MACON, Ga. (Feb. 24, 2018) â€" The Milligan College baseball team finished a tough nonconference series at No. 15 Middle Georgia State University Saturday with a doubleheader. Middle Georgia took both games, 14-8 and 6-2, to complete the three-game series sweep.
 
BIG INNINGS, GAME ONE
Milligan (4-8) put together a big inning in the sixth with four runs, but by then Middle Georgia (15-4) had already had two big innings of its own. The Knights scored five runs in the third and five more in the fourth to put the game away.
 
In Milligan's four-run sixth, Bryan Soto did most of the damage, hitting a three-run homer to left field with one out.
 
STATS, GAME ONE
Soto was 2-for-2 with four RBI's while Garrett Dalton was 2-for-4 and Bailey Russell was 2-for-3. Chandler Daniels made the start but went only two and one-third innings, allowing six runs on six hits a three walks.
 
MILLIGAN'S RALLY, GAME TWO
Milligan again fell behind in game two as Middle Georgia scored three runs in the second inning on the way to a 6-0 lead. However, a walk and a few hits in the top of the seventh made it a 6-2 game and Milligan had runners on base and a rally in the works. Middle Georgia ended the threat with a strikeout to close out the game.
 
STATS, GAME TWO
Thomas Miller finished 2-for-3 as the only Buff with multiple hits. Garrett Hartley made the start and went the first three and two-thirds innings before Jeffrey Medford finished the last two and one-third innings. Medford allowed only two hits and no walks in a scoreless effort.
 
UP NEXT
Milligan will be at home for the next game as the Buffs face Montreat College in a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series starting Friday, March 2.
