Buffs defeat Bryan for fourth straight AAC win

DAYTON, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2018) â€" Daxton Bostian led the Milligan College men's basketball team with 26 points in a crucial Appalachian Athletic Conference win on the road at Bryan College, 82-73. The Buffs, winning four straight AAC games, moved to fourth in the conference this week while Bryan moved to second.
 
Milligan advanced to 11-7 in the AAC while the Lions dropped to 11-7 in the AAC.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
In Steve Lacy Fieldhouse Bostian drained a 3-pointer in the final 10 seconds to secure the 3-point win over the Lions after trailing by 12 at the half and again with less than 15 minutes left.
 
FIRST HALF LEADS
Right off the bat David Casaday completed a 3-pointer the second play of the game. After the first tie three minutes into the game, the Buffs took off leading by as much as eight points. Though the game went on to be tied three more times, the Buffs still led by as much as six points. Bostian closed out the half with a last second 3-pointer to put Milligan in the lead for good and with a 3-point advantage going into the locker room.
 
SECOND HALF DOMINANCE
Milligan came back out in the second half ready to dominate never letting the Lions gain the momentum. The Buffs led by as much as 13 points three different times in the half and by as little as four points. Milligan made 13-of-15 from the charity line in the final 20 minutes of play to further fasten large leads. The Buffs did not let up continuing to get stops and attacking on their side of the court.
 
 STATISTICAL LEADERS
Following Bostian was Casaday with 20 points going 5-for-8 from 3-point territory. Bostian went 5-for-7 from the arc. Levarity earned his ninth straight and 19th total double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Featherston led with five assists. Will Buckner and Desean Green added eight points apiece.
 
For Bryan, EJ Bush led with 24 points and seven rebounds while Oteriah Lee earned 16 points. Clay Hertel followed adding 13 points and led with five assists.
 
As a team, the Buffs tallied 12 3-pointers in comparison to the Lions' four.
 
UP NEXT
The Buffs will be back on the road to Montreat College for some more AAC action Saturday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. and then return to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Monday, Feb. 12, for a nonconference matchup against Warren Wilson.
