DAYTON, Tenn. (March 30, 2018) â€" A leadoff home run from
Chris Patterson gave the Milligan College baseball team the early lead over No. 9 Bryan College, and the Buffs hung around in a one-run game midway through the fifth inning. However, Bryan used a late push to send Milligan to an 8-2 defeat and take game one of an Appalachian Athletic Conference series on Friday.
ÂÂ
Patterson's home run was his second of the season, but Milligan's lead was short lived as Bryan posted two runs in the bottom half to go into the lead for good.
Jascanel Ferreras drove home
Hunter Suggs in the top of the fifth with a single to make it 3-2, but that was all the scoring the Buffs would do. Bryan went on to score a run in the bottom of the sixth before adding four more runs of insurance in the eighth.
ÂÂ
Three Buffs recorded multiple hits at the plate.
Garrett Dalton was 2-for-5, Ferreras was 2-for-4, and
Thomas Miller was 2-for-3.
ÂÂ
Milligan and Bryan will finish the series with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. After that, the Buffs host AAC foe Union College over next weekend in the first of only two remaining home series left on the regular season schedule.
