Baseball drops doubleheader at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (April 8, 2018) â€" The Milligan College baseball team took to the road Sunday for a nonconference doubleheader at University of the Cumberlands. After dropping the first game 4-1, the Buffs looked to split the twin bill with a late lead in game two but ultimately fell 7-6.

AT THE PLATE
Seven Buffs recorded a hit in the first game but Cumberlands jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and a 3-0 lead by the end of the third inning. The Patriots then made it 4-0 in the fifth before Milligan scored its first and only run in the sixth. Thomas Miller had the RBI in a pinch hit at-bat, scoring Chris Patterson who had walked and stole second.

In game two, Camron Harper led the Buffs with a two-hit effort as the Buffs went out 6-2 after a big fifth inning. Bailey Russell had one of the biggest hits of the game in that inning as he tripled to right-center field to score Jascanel Ferreras and Isaac Barkley.

Cumberlands responded in the bottom of the seventh, however, with five runs and a walk-off double to seal the victory.
