Habte's golden goal leads Buffs to victory

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2018) â€" Robell Habte notched the golden goal in the second overtime period, in what was a highly contested match, to lift Milligan College (4-1, 0-1) over NCAA Division II foe Auburn University Montgomery 3-2 at Anglin field Saturday afternoon.

HABTE CUTS THE LEAD AT THE HALF
The Buffs jumped out to a quick start putting pressure on the Warhawk (1-4) defense by posting four shots in the first 14 minutes, but couldn't capitalize. Auburn Montgomery netted the game's first goal at the 18 minute mark and added another in the 37th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

Milligan would continue to push forward and Habte would cut into the deficit just before the half, with a goal in the 43rd minute off of an assist by Roberto Fernandez Garrido.

LATE GOAL SENDS IT TO OT
The second half brought out very physical play from both teams, but the Buffs didn't let that phase them. Garrido would put the ball in the back of the net thanks to a beautiful assist from Joel Dominguez in the 77th minute to tie the game 2-2.

Milligan had a chance late to take the lead as Garrido once again fired another shot, but just missed high to send the game to overtime.

GOLDEN GOAL WINS IT FOR BUFFS IN 2OT
After both teams failed to score in the first overtime, Sam Dawson would lob a pass from midfield, finding Habte in the box, who netted the golden goal on a header to send the Buffs to victory in the 107th minute.
