MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2018) â€" Despite
Roberto Fernandez Garrido's and
Robell Habte's team leading seventh goals, the Milligan College men's soccer team (4-2, 0-2) fell Wednesday night to No. 19 Reinhardt (6-0-1) in their Appalachian Athletic Conference home opener on Anglin Field.
After several near misses in the first half from the Milligan attack, the Buffaloes found themselves in an early 3-0 hole. Garrido would change that in the 61st minute as he found the back of the net thanks to an assist from
Joel Dominguez. With the goal, Garrido took over the team lead for goals scored this season, but that wouldn't last for long.
After the Eagles added on two more goals, Habte would tie Garrido for the team lead in the 81st minute off of a great delivery from
Harry Griffin to wrap up the scoring for the evening.
BY THE NUMBERS
Garrido led the Buffs with five shots (three on goal) and was followed by two each from
Jordan Burch and Habte (two on goal). In total Milligan was outshot 21-10, including 11-5 on goal. Keeper
Luke Dove recorded six saves to Reinhardt's Torge Wiedenroth's three.
The two goals scored by Milligan marked the most goals the Eagles defense has allowed in a single game this season.
UP NEXT
Milligan College remains at home for a Saturday matchup against Montreat at 7 p.m., directly after the women's match. The Buffs will then begin a three game road trip with stops at Point, Bluefield and Lees-McRae College.
