EMORY, Va. (Sept. 2, 2018) â€" For the second day in a row, the Milligan College women's soccer team went to overtime. After battling Emory & Henry scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation plus two 10-minute overtime periods, the two teams settled for a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon.

ON THE OFFENSIVE END
Milligan (0-2-1) dominated the possession, and that domination showed in every column of the box score except the final score. Freshman
Ashlen Burch led the Buffs with five shots, including three on goal, as Milligan outshot Emory & Henry 30-10. The Buffs also took eight corner kicks compared to two by the Wasps.

Burch was one of 12 Buffs to take a shot in the match.
Isabella Cranford and
Bekah Cundiff also took three shots on frame.

ON THE DEFENSIVE END
The Buffs forced E&H goalkeeper Kaela Schlevensky to make 14 saves, including several would-be golden goals in the overtime periods. Milligan goalkeeper
Eva Bower recorded her first shutout of the season with four saves.

The match marked the first time a team shut Milligan out this season. In two previous matches, the Buffs had averaged 2.5 goals per game.

Milligan faces two more nonconference opponents before opening up Appalachian Athletic Conference play. First up is nearby King University Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m. The next home match for the Buffs is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12, against new AAC member Columbia International University.
