ATHENS, Tenn. (Sept. 8, 2018) â€" The Milligan College men's soccer team (3-1, 0-1) dropped their first game of the season in their Appalachian Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon against Tennessee Wesleyan (5-1, 1-0) 6-0. The loss marked the first time this season that the Buffs were held scoreless after averaging 4.3 goals per game coming into the contest.
Overall, Milligan's offense could only muster up six shots (three on goal) to Wesleyan's 22 (13 on goal).
Roberto Fernandez Garrido led the Buffs with two shot attempts, including one on goal. Keeper
Luke Dove recorded a career high seven saves in the loss.
Milligan hung tough in the first half as the game was scoreless until the Bulldogs put one on the board in the 30th minute to break the tie. The Buffs would keep it close at the half only trailing 2-0, but a strong second-half surge by Tennessee Wesleyan would put the match out of reach.
