HARROGATE, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2019) â€" The Milligan College softball team came up short twice at Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday, falling to the Railsplitters 8-0 in five innings in game one before falling 8-3 in game two. The doubleheader took place at LMU's turfed Dorothy Neely Field where the Railsplitters are 9-1 so far this season.

LMU'S PAIR OF BIG INNINGS LEADS TO DECISIVE GAME ONE
Lincoln Memorial jumped out on top with four runs in the first inning of game one, then put the run rule into effect with four more runs in the fourth. The Railsplitters led the bottom of the first inning off with a home run, then punched three more runs across via an RBI double, an RBI groundout and an RBI single. In the fourth, it was another RBI double immediately followed by a three-run homer.

Jaclyn Jenkins provided the hits for Milligan in the loss. Slagle went 1-for-2 with a walk from the leadoff spot.

BUFFS' OFFENSE PICKS UP BUT FALLS SHORT IN GAME TWO
LMU once again jumped out to an early lead in game two, but Milligan did not go away as quietly. Slagle drew a bases-loaded walk and sophomore
Morgan Overholser hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2 in the second inning. However, LMU put up two runs in each of the next two innings to extend its lead back out to six runs.

Weather pending, Milligan will hold its home opener over the weekend, hosting University of Pikeville Saturday at 1 p.m. on Anglin Field. The Buffs also are scheduled to be home next Wednesday, Feb. 27, versus King University.
