MCKENZIE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2019) â€" It was a split day for the Milligan College tennis teams as the Buffaloes picked up the spring portion of the season Saturday with a women's win, 8-1, and a men's loss, 5-4, at Bethel University.

Sophomore
Karson Light, one of five winners in both singles and doubles for Milligan's women, kept her perfect season intact with a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles. She defeated Roselle Dorero 6-2, 6-2 for her fourth win in straight sets for far this season.
Chessa Jones (No. 2 singles),
Minda Martin (No. 3 singles),
McKenzie Grady (No.5 singles) and
Marlaina Peterson (No. 6 singles) were also easy winners in the minimum number of sets.

Milligan (4-1) faced its closest match at No. 1 doubles as
Lexie Hill and Jones won the last two games to defeat Elena Fochs and Dorero 9-7.

Mason Grear and
Taylor Graalman also posted a close win at No. 1 doubles on the men's side. They won in a tiebreak, 9-8, but the Buffs fell behind 2-1 heading into doubles and were unable to come back. Graalman (No. 2 singles), Joe Lyttle (No. 5 singles) and
Thomas Hurt (No. 6 singles) were the singles winners, each winning in straight sets.

Graalman improved to 5-0 in singles and Hurt improved to 4-1, but Milligan fell to 3-2.

Up next, Milligan faces Tusculum University at home Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. in an exhibition match before returning back home the following Saturday, Feb. 23, for a regular season dual match against Lees-McRae College. The Buffaloes have 10 upcoming home matches on the spring schedule.
