MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 3, 2019) â€" Three lead changes in the final two innings set the stage for a thrilling finish as the Milligan College baseball team rallied from behind to win the nightcap of a doubleheader, 8-7, Wednesday night at Anglin Field. Hiwassee College won game one 5-3.

Braden Jones provided the final RBI while
William Oliver scored the final run in the second game, helping Milligan (11-18, 4-11 AAC) overcome a 7-5 sixth-inning deficit. It followed a five-run sixth by Hiwassee in the top half.

Chance Hall earned the win on the mound, improving to 2-1, after he did big-time damage control in Hiwassee's big inning. Hall entered with two on and two out in a 7-5 ballgame with Hiwassee already having swung the lead with five runs in the inning. Hall ended the threat with a punchout then struck out two more in a perfect seventh.

Oliver went 3-for-3 in the win, including his second home run of the season which was a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third.
Jeffrey Mefford made the start and went the first 5-1/3 innings striking out eight while allowing only two hits.

Camron Harper and
Juan Vasquez were the leaders for Milligan in the game-one loss. Harper went 3-for-3 while Vasquez went 2-for-4. The Buffs fell behind 5-0 but battled back with two-out hits from Harper and
Isaac Barkley in the fourth and fifth, then an Oliver RBI ground ball in the sixth to make it 5-3. They also saw a solid effort from freshman
Blake Lucas who pitched the final three innings of relief, facing only one over the minimum in a hitless and scoreless effort.

Up next, Milligan returns to Anglin Field and Appalachian Athletic Conference action this weekend in a three-game series against Bluefield College. Weather pending, teams will play a single game Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
