MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 11, 2020) -- Kaely Gose scored 21 points in the second half on the way to a career high of 30 points to lead the Milligan College women's basketball team to an 88-75 nonconference victory over Warren Wilson College Saturday afternoon inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The win was Milligan's second straight and marked the Buffs' highest scoring output of the season.
By the numbers
Gose added 14 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season and her sixth double-double in the last nine games. It also was the ninth time in the last 10 games Gose reached double figures in scoring. She went 8-for-12 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the perimeter while adding a 12-for-14 effort at the free throw line.
Gose's previous career high was 28 which she did earlier this season and at the beginning of last season. The latter also was against Warren Wilson.
Halie Padgett followed as the only other Buff in double figures for scoring with 10 points while Emily Kiser followed as the only other Buff in double figure rebounds with 10 boards. Eleven Buffs entered the scoring column, including Hannah Wyrick and Lily Griffith who scored nine apiece.
Malaka Eliz, who scored 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting, led Warren Wilson. Three other Owls made it to double figures but none with more than 13.
Buffs make big shots in second half
The game featured only two ties and four lead changes, but it was close most of the way. Warren Wilson used a 10-2 run early in the third quarter to take its first lead but a Padgett two and Kiser three helped give Milligan the lead back, and they never again trailed. Kiser's three marked her first points of the game, and she followed two possessions later with another three to break the final tie.
In the fourth quarter, Warren Wilson had it as close as three but Milligan steadily pulled away. Griffith capped a 5-0 run during that stretch with a 3-pointer from the corner which put Milligan ahead by double figures.

Milligan returns to Appalachian Athletic Conference action with a trip to Kentucky Christian University next Wednesday before coming back to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse next Saturday, Jan. 18, for a conference game against Columbia International University.
