ATHENS, Tenn. (November 4, 2023) – The Milligan University women's soccer team ended its season in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament quarterfinals as the Buffs were defeated 5-0 by Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Milligan ends its season with 10-9-1 record. TWU, who received votes in the most recent national rankings, advances to the conference semifinals with a 15-1-1 mark.
The Bulldogs established a 2-0 lead in the game's first five minutes with tallies in the third and fourth minutes.
Milligan managed just one shot in the first half, a bouncing attempt by Grace Baldwin in the top-right corner of the penalty box in the final minute of the period.
The Bulldogs added a third goal early in the second half as a header off the crossbar was followed by a header over the goal line to give the hosts a 3-0 edge in the 50th minute.
Kori Barnhill had a shot blocked in the 76th minute for the Buffs' only attempt of the second half.
TWU tacked on goals in the 72nd and 81st minutes to secure the 5-0 win.
The Bulldogs finished with a 28-2 advantage in shots (15-1 SOG). The Buffs recorded three corner kicks on the day while TWU had nine.
The Buffs conclude the season with a winning record for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
