Baseball downs Johnson (Tenn.) 12-2 for sixth-straight win

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 6, 2023) – The Milligan University baseball team notched its sixth-straight win with a 12-2 run-rule victory over Johnson (Tenn.) at Anglin Field on Thursday evening.

The Buffs moved to 22-14 on the season and 8-11 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. Johnson fell to 4-34, 4-18 AAC.

Milligan scored in each of the first five innings as the Buffs established an 11-0 lead.

Caleb Berry's three-run home run highlighted a five-run second inning. Logan Hullette drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single in the fifth to push Milligan's lead to 10-0.

Buffs starter Jimmy Gamboa fanned nine batters in six shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and walked none in his third AAC win of the season.

The Royals scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to prevent a 10-run rule in the top of the inning. Courtesy runner Kobe Miles scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame to end the game 12-2.

Hullette went 5-5 at the plate for the second-straight game. He doubled twice, drove in three runs and Miles, his courtesy runner, scored five times.

Berry went 2-3 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored. Eight different players combined for 14 hits on the day for the Buffs.
