Volleyball splits at King in nonconference finale

BRISTOL, Tenn. (September 8, 2023) – The Milligan University volleyball team split in the Buffs' nonconference finale at King on Friday. Milligan fell to Lees-McCrae in four sets before sweeping host King 3-0 on Friday evening.

The Buffs close their nonconference schedule with a 6-4 record.

Game 1 – Lees-McCrae 3, Milligan 1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21)

The Buffs took the first set but were outhit by the Bobcats over the next three as Lees-McCrae took the four-set win.

Ella Maiden had 13 kills and five total blocks. Shelby Miller posted 11 kills and 17 digs.

Kolbie Greene dished 40 assists with 10 digs. Zoie Larkins led the Buffs defense with 20 digs.

Game 2 – Milligan 3, King 0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22)

Miller turned in a dominant showing in the Buffs' sweep over King. She racked up 19 kills with a .425 hitting percentage and 15 digs. Maiden posted 11 kills and two solo blocks. Avery Maiden and Taylor Pavich each had six kills.

Greene posted 33 assists and 15 digs. Rachel Falin had nine digs

The Buffs hit .246 for the match with 48 kills and 17 errors.

The Buffs open Appalachian Athletic Conference play against Union tomorrow in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse at 11:00 a.m.
