ACWORTH, Ga. – Milligan University's No. 24-ranked women's golf squad spent Monday and Tuesday in Acworth, Ga. at the Governors Towne Club for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Showcase. The event wrapped up the fall season for the Buffs, as they look forward to their competitive spring season. The squad played two rounds on Monday, and one on Tuesday, resulting in a top-five finish from an individual, as well as a fourth-place showing as a team.
Senior
Mallory TeVrucht led all Milligan golfers in the final event of the season, notching a tie for fourth place and an All-Tournament team recognition. She started the tournament with a score of 79 in the first 18 holes. In the second round on the same day, she posted four birdies on her way to an even par score of 72. The Governors Towne Club proved to be a challenging course, as she was one of only four golfers to shoot even par or better in a single round throughout the three-day tournament. On the final day, TeVrucht closed out the event by going two under par on the back nine, finishing with a total stoke count of 75. Overall, she finished just 12 strokes over par.
Catalina Easley was the next Milligan golfer to finish, placing T-12th at +20 for the event. After rounds of seven over par and eight over par, she notched a +5 showing at 77 strokes to climb up the leaderboard.
Finishing just behind Easley was
Tessa Wilck who tied for 15th place. In the first two rounds she remained consistent, shooting 81 and 82. In the third and final round, she got aggressive, collecting an eagle and two birdies to shoot a 78 moving her up the leaderboard into 15th place.
The final counting score for the Buffs came courtesy of
Bailey McGaha, who received All-Tournament honors in the previous tourney at Gibson Bay Golf Club. She struggled in the opening round shooting a thirteen-over-par 86, but clawed her way back in the final two rounds by shooting a pair of 79's to finish T-17th.
Christa Woodard provided the alternate score at the event and placed 32nd at 43-over-par across three rounds.
Layla Fox,
Skye Perdue, and
Madison Butler each competed as individuals as they prepare for the spring season. Butler finished in T-25th place at +33, while Fox finished just a stroke behind with a +34 in 28th place, and Perdue finished at +50 for a 42nd-place finish.
The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Showcase was the final stop on the Milligan women's golf fall schedule. They now look forward to a competitive spring season.
