Clark Posts Triple-Double in Dominant Victory for MU Women's Basketball against Union

MILLIGAN, Tenn. – On Saturday afternoon inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, the Milligan University women's basketball team left no doubt in anyone's mind that they were the better team in their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup with the Union Commonwealth University (Ky.) Bulldogs. At the tilt's final buzzer, the Lady Buffs notched a 93-57 triumph to stay undefeated in AAC play.

The first quarter was about as one-sided as possible, with Milligan building an outrageous 27-4 advantage with 1:58 remaining in the period. They shot 12-of-18 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc in the frame. Union Commonwealth had no answers, hitting only three field goals on 17 attempts to score just seven first-quarter points.

It was a much better second stanza for the visitors, as they hung tough with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. The Buffaloes struggled for the majority of the period and allowed UCU to keep things tenable. They scored seven field goals, as well, but they hoisted 19 shots in the period. Milligan still held a commanding lead at 48-26 entering the intermission, though they tied the Bulldogs 19-19 in the quarter.

A return to efficient offensive play for Milligan took place in the third quarter, with the team notching a 10-of-17 clip from the floor. They ended up squelching the Union offensive attack, as they hit only five of their 17 tries from the field in the period. A that point, it was a 73-39 score on the board in the Buffaloes' favor, with only 10 minutes to go.

With reserve players in for both sides in the later stages of the fourth, Milligan cruised to a 93-57 win with a 20-18 edge in scoring in the final period.

Kenzie Campbell poured in 20 points on an outstanding 8-of-10 shooting mark. She hit three shots from deep in the victory, as well. Makenzie Bremer also provided a prolific offensive display, scoring 18 points on a 7-of-10 conversion rate. Both Semaj Clark (7-of-10) and McKenna Myers (5-of-11) scored 15 points in the battle as the final players in double figures. Cora Browning knocked down her first career bucket in the contest, a three-point jumper, having been unable to play physically to this point.

Clark's 10 assists led the way for Milligan, as she reached double digits in the category for the first time this season. A trio of Buffs dished out four assists, with Myers, Lina Lyon and Caroline Krueger achieving the feat. Nina Lovelace and Naomi Atchley provided two each and Lexi Ervin, Dachelle Lucas and Browning added the remaining three.

Closing out her first triple-double of the season, Clark hauled in 12 boards to lead the team. It was her second career triple-double performance, with her first coming in the 2024-25 campaign. Other rebounders in the contest for MU included Myers (5), Campbell (4), Krueger (4), Ervin (4) and Browning (4).

The Buffaloes concluded the game with a total of 13 steals and five blocked shots. Three steals and a block were tallied by Clark to further enhance her stat line. Krueger sent back two shots and grabbed a steal in the win. Browning, in her first action of the year, compiled three thefts for the Buffaloes. Atchley added one of each, while Campbell, Myers, Bremer, Lyon and Lovelace all had one steal. Lucas rejected one shot, as well, to round out the list.

With the triumph, the Lady Buffs (4-4, 3-0 AAC) have begun conference play impressively, having won all three contests by more than 30 points. Their next test is a road battle at Johnson University (Tenn.) on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Knoxville.
