OXFORD, Ohio – On Monday afternoon, the Milligan University men's basketball squad continued their 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition matchup against the NCAA Division I opponent Miami (Ohio) University RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio. The Buffs struggled to slow down a RedHawks offense that averages 91.8 points per game throughout the contest, as they fell by a final score of 135-81.
Miami (13-0, 1-0 Mid-American) scored the first basket of the game on a layup, but Milligan responded with a three pointer from
Liviu Anton to take the lead 3-2. However, the RedHawks answered quickly with a three-point barrage, as a pair of triples gave them a 14-5 advantage and shortly after another pair of shots from beyond the arc stretched their lead to 25-7 with 12 minutes and thirty-four seconds remaining in the first half. Miami continued to slowly expand their lead, until three straight triples from
Elijah Bredwood followed by a three pointer from
Jake Benham cut the RedHawks lead to 19 with seven minutes remaining. Down the stretch, Miami's offense continued to click on all cylinders and the Buffs struggled to keep up, as they went into the halftime break trailing 68-35.
Half number two started with a three-pointer for the Buffs from
Te'Jon McDaniel-McCormick, but the RedHawks answered with a layup. From there, Miami continued to add, opening things up to a 41-point lead at 90-49 with 14:54 left. Over the remainder of the tilt, Miami extended their lead and Milligan ended up falling 135-81. The RedHawks shot 51-of-67 (76.1%) from the field, the best shooting percentage in program history, while the Buffs finished 31-of-72 (43%).
McDaniel-McCormick ended up as the team's leader in scoring with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. He also sunk three of his five three-point attempts and went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. Bredwood followed with 16 points on a 5-of-14 day shooting the rock.
Jake Benham (13) and
Liviu Anton (11) also reached double digit scoring.
McDaniel-McCormick led the way with five assists for the team, while Bredwood added three.
Zack Turner and
Grant Hensley each contributed two dimes, and
Zivko Damjanovic,
Sergej Cvetkovic and
Ahmari Hicks each had one to account for the teams 15 total.
McDaniel-McCormick led the Buffs with eight rebounds. Benham supplied five and
Ahmari Hicks grabbed four. Anton reeled in two, while Turner and
Bo Koebbe each had one, respectively.
Next up for the Buffaloes is a trip to Williamsburg, Ky. for a non-conference tilt with the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Dec. 30 at 3 p.m.
