MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The final Milligan women's basketball home contest of 2025 took place on Saturday afternoon, as the Lady Buffs hosted the Rams of Columbia International University (S.C.) on Smith-Harris Court inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Following a slow-paced first quarter, the Buffaloes ran away with the contest, allowing only 32 points. Ultimately, they finished with a 51-point victory, 83-32.
Neither side shot the ball well to open the bout. In fact, both squads failed to knock down their shots at 30% clips. For CIU it was just a 4-of-16 period from the field and the Buffs had a 5-of-17 mark, as they led the Rams 12-8 after the opening frame.
Milligan's offense caught fire in the second. A booming 13-of-21 (61.9%) conversion rate was achieved by the Lady Buffs in the period. Meanwhile, CIU tallied just nine points for their second single-digit output of the day in a period. They could only make three field goals on 13 attempts, along with a pair of free throws. With the monstrous takeover by the Buffaloes, the score became lopsided at 46-17 at the break.
The two sides were ice cold again in the third quarter, as neither side hit the 30% mark in the quarter for the second time in three frames. This time around, it was the Rams who posted a better scoring line, making 6-of-21 from the floor, while Milligan hit only 5-of-20. A 13-9 margin in the visitors' favor made it a 55-30 Lady Buffs lead entering the final quarter.
It was nearly a blanking recorded by MU in the fourth quarter, as they held Columbia International to just a single basket. At the same time, the Buffs scored 28 points in the period on a strong 8-of-13 clip. With the fourth-quarter outburst, Milligan recorded a dominant 83-32 win on their home floor.
Semaj Clark was the leading scorer for the team, amassing 16 points on a 6-of-15 shooting line. Three additional players reached double digits, with
McKenna Myers (11),
Lina Lyon (10) and
Nina Lovelace (10) claiming those spots.
Milligan tallied 21 assists in the win, and Lyon led the way with five.
Caroline Krueger totaled four dimes and Myers supplied three. A trio of two-assist contributors included Clark,
Kenzie Campbell and
Naomi Atchley.
Makenzie Bremer,
Lexi Ervin and
Romy Bos rounded out the list with one apiece.
Clark was the team's leading rebounder, hauling in seven backboards. Krueger was right behind her with six, while Myers reeled in five. Lovelace picked up four, Campbell and Ervin snatched three, and the group of Lyon, Bremer, Atchley and Bos counted for two each.
Callie Reeder and
Dachelle Lucas also brought in boards.
Overall, 19 steals and four blocked shots were totaled by the Buffaloes in their triumph. Clark's five steals paced the squad, as she also had a block. Krueger posted four steals and a block, and Myers added three steals. Campbell and Bos tallied a pair of thefts apiece, and the rest of the steals came from Lyon, Ervin and
Cora Browning. Atchley and Reeder sent back the other two rejections.
Following the win to conclude the 2025 home portion of the schedule, the Lady Buffs (6-4, 5-0 AAC) are now saddled with back-to-back AAC road games at Pikeville (Ky.) on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. and Dec. 13 at Montreat (N.C.) at 2 p.m.
