(RV) Milligan Baseball Shut out in First Game of Series at Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga. - On Friday, the (RV) Milligan University baseball squad clashed with the No. 6-ranked Reinhardt University Eagles in Waleska, Ga. The first game of the weekend series went awry for the Buffaloes, as they dropped the tilt 11-0 in seven frames.

Reinhardt began quickly with two runs in the bottom of the first, as an RBI single and a run-scoring groundout put them up 2-0 early.

A solo homer from the Eagles made it 3-0 after three full innings, as the Buffs were unable to answer in the first three frames.

Reinhardt kept incrementally increasing their lead every inning, as they scored two on a two-run double in the fourth.

They then scored five times in the fifth on two RBI singles, a two-run double and an RBI two-bagger, making it 10-0.

A solo blast by the Eagles in the bottom of the sixth made it 11-0, where the score would stay, as Milligan offense could only muster three hits in the contest.

With the Buffaloes being unable to score in the seventh, the run-rule came into effect, ending the day in seven for Milligan, 11-0.

All three of the Buffs' hits were singles, as Bryce Safferwich, Angel Lobo and Reagan Smith were responsible for them.

Going up against a potent lineup, the Milligan pitching staff was unable to tame the Reinhardt bats. Canyon Green allowed five earned runs on six hits across four innings of work. He walked four hitters and struck out just one. Drew Hoover relieved him and had similar results, giving up six runs on eight hits in the game's final two innings.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) three-game set will have its final two bouts on Saturday, as game one gets underway at 12 p.m. in Waleska.
