ROCK HILL, S.C. - Over the weekend, the Milligan University disc golf team achieved several massive achievements, none bigger than winning their first ever Collegiate Disc Golf National Championship in the DIII competition.
Milligan's first ever national title belongs to the team consisting of Aaron Walker, James Blocker, Mitchell Moll and Owen Gibson, which led the tournament wire-to-wire, never relinquishing the lead.
In the women's tournament, the Buffs tied for third place at 12-under-par for the four-round tournament, as Grace Sanderson and Lily Marr combined to get the Lady Buffs on the podium.
For Milligan's A team, it was a tie for a sixth-place finish out of the 50 total teams in the field, which head coach Tim Barr coined as "tour-level". Milligan's Ethan Bishop, Chase Farler, Max Kitchings and Benjamin Wagner combined for the result.
The B team in the DII competition placed tied for 14th out of 92 teams who competed. That squad consisted of John Bernard, Christopher Berney, Kit Curtis and Ethan Reab.
The Buffaloes' D team placed seventh in the DIII field, with Jett Carter, Harrison Greene, Zachary Nelson and Sean Pagenkopf reaching that mark.
Lastly, the E team tied for 35th, with Simon Eller, Christopher Hernandez, Daniel Martinez and Michael Nickens
