The Buffaloes' men began their season with a bang, taking two out of three doubles contests. Thiago Petry and Michal Curlej combined to topple their counterparts in the No. 1 doubles matchup by a 6-1 tally, while Gonzaga Lafarga and Phil Schollhorn teamed up for a 6-2 win in the second doubles tilt. Those two wins earned the Buffaloes the doubles point, giving them a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Buffaloes nabbed five out of the six matches, including Lafarga's 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 1 match. Curlej topped his opponent 6-3, 6-0 in the third battle, and Martin Mercarder completed a 6-4, 6-1 win in the fourth. Petry's 6-0, 6-0 shutout, as well as Brayden Kennedy's 6-3, 6-1 win closed out the Wasps.

On the women's side, 6-1 doubles triumphs were recorded by both the pairings of Lee Anne Endler/Melissa Duarte and Parker White/Madison Berry, clinching Milligan the doubles point, which proved to be crucial.

Five of the six singles bouts went to 10-point tiebreaks, with only Trinity Fox finishing her opponent with ease, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 match. Endler escaped with a 5-7, 7-5, 10-3 win in the top contest, while Berry was the other Milligan singles winner in the No. 5 tilt, taking home a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 triumph.

Milligan's men's and women's squads will now host the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. for their second matches of the fall.
