JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – On Monday and Tuesday, the No. 20-ranked Milligan University women's golf program competed in their home fall tournament, the East Tennessee Collegiate. After two rounds, the Buffaloes closed the event in third place out of six attending squads.
Bailey McGaha concluded her performance by being named to the All-Tournament Team, placing fifth with a two-round tally of 149 strokes. She compiled a strong 73, which is just one-over-par in the first round, while scoring a 76 on day two.
Right behind McGaha was
Mallory TeVrucht, who was six-over-par in the two-day tournament. Her 150 strokes tied her for sixth place, and she matched McGaha's 76 on day two, and scored a 74 in the first round.
Rounding out the bunch of top-10 finishers for Milligan was
Tessa Wilck. The freshman tallied 151 shots for the event, managing consistent rounds of 76 and 75 in the process to shoot +7.
Madison Butler (15
th, +16, 160) and
Skye Perdue (16
th, +17, 161) finished in the final two counting spots for the Buffs.
It was
Christa Woodard (14
th, +15, 159) and
Layla Fox (18
th, +19, 163) who played as individuals on the day, with their scores not counting toward Milligan's tally.
A respectable tally of 610 strokes by the Buffaloes put them in third place, as their +34 conclusion set them 14 strokes behind Pikeville in second.
The nationally-ranked Milligan women head to the Upstate Fall Invitational in Greer, S.C., hosted by USC Upstate at Greer Country Club on Sept. 29-30. The Buffs continue to inch toward the AAC Fall Preview in late October.
