WALESKA, Ga. - On Monday, the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) revealed their Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Milligan University took home three of the four awards, sweeping the men's awards (
Trevor Sinard (Field) and
Luis Peralta (Track)) and taking home Female Track Athlete of the Week with
Ellen-Mary Kearney.
Sinard came away with his first career AAC Field Athlete of the Week honor in his freshman season, taking top-eight finishes in both the Shot Put and the Weight Throw, tossing the shot 13.99m and the weight 15.56m.
Peralta ran the 600m for the Buffs to the tune of a 1:19.19 clip, which was good enough to win the entire event. It is currently the third-fastest time in the nation for the 600m and set a new meet record, as well as a Milligan record. He also helped out on the men's 4x800m Relay, which won their race with a time of 7:44.39, which outpaced the previous meet, facility and college record at JDL Fast Track. It is the second-fastest time in the NAIA this year.
Kearney ran the 1000m as her lone individual event, in which she clocked a Milligan record mark of 2:48.45, which would also have set the meet record. She placed fourth in the race. She also helped out as a leg in the women's 4x800m Relay, in which the Buffs placed first with a time of 9:36.58, which currently stands as the No. 3 time in the NAIA this season.
