INDIANAPOLIS – The Milligan women's bowling team headed north to the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis on Saturday and Sunday, concluding their weekend with a highly impressive semifinal round finish in bracket play out of 64 attending programs.
The Buffs bowled five team games and 15 bakers to reach bracket play of the Hoosier Classic, as the squad totaled 4,872 in team games and then came away with the second-most baker pins in the tournament, knocking down 3,034. Overall, Milligan had 7,906 pins to qualify third for bracket play. In the quarterfinal round of the match play bracket, the Buffaloes beat out Missouri Baptist to reach the semifinals against Mount Mercy. For MU, that was where the event would end in the third/fourth-place position after a 2-0 loss to Mount Mercy.
Paige Fortier had a great follow-up performance of her All-Tournament honor last week by placing 17
th with a 208.2-pin average. She knocked over 1,041 pins and had a top single-game score of 232 pins in her opening team game.
Emilee Horton came in 24
th with 1,033 total pins and an average of 206.6. She bowled a 237 in the third team game and reached over 200 pins in the first four, failing to reach that mark in only her fifth game.

Emily Cheesman bowled a 214 in both her first and fourth team games. With those scores included, she had 1,003 pins for the weekend, averaging 200.6.
Taylor Davis (131
st) was the final Milligan bowler to play in all five team games, knocking down 887 pins with a single-game high of 207 in her third team game.
The Buffaloes will now return to the Bowlero Savannah in Savannah, Ga. for the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships on Feb. 20-21. Milligan is looking for their second conference title, following a runner-up finish at last season's tournament.
