HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – On Tuesday, the (RV) Milligan men's tennis team played their second of three tilts at the PTR Tennis Fest in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Buffs went up against the NCAA Division II West Virginia State Yellow Jackets, after a switch from the originally scheduled match against Berry College (Ga.), and came away with a decisive 5-2 victory with five singles triumphs.

The doubles point went to the Yellow Jackets, as only
Gonzaga Lafarga and
Phil Schollhorn were able to pick up a win in the No. 2 matchup by a final of 6-4.
Michal Curlej and
Thiago Petry fell 6-4 in the No. 1 tilt and
Brayden Kennedy and
Tomas Tenil dropped the third battle by a final of 6-3.
Singles made up for the loss of the doubles point, as Lafarga pulled off a 7-6, 6-2 win in the top bout. Curlej won the first set 6-3, but fell 7-5 in the second, ultimately pulling off a 10-8 win in a 10-point tiebreak in the No. 2 matchup.
Martin Mercarder won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth match, while Petry held on for a 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 5 tilt. Lastly, Tenil took a 6-1 win in the first set before dropping the second 6-2. It took a 10-6 win in the 10-point tiebreaker to earn the Buffaloes their fifth point and a 5-2 triumph.
Both the Milligan men and women will be playing on Wednesday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. against the Georgetown College (Ky.) Tigers to close out their trips to the PTR Tennis Fest.
