BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Milligan University's men's and women's outdoor track & field programs completed day two of competition at the Montreat Open to start the outdoor season. On day one, the Buffs had a strong showing highlighted by wins in both the men's and women's 4x400m relays. Marti Molins won the men's 1500m (3:56.35),
Mary Custodio took first in women's pole vault (2.80m),
Brayden Simpson claimed victory in the men's 400m hurdles (55.91), and
Ellen-Mary Kearney dominated the women's 800m (2:12.25). The Buffs also posted seven personal best times across both squads on the opening day. On day two, Milligan finished strong with solid performances in the field events, highlighted by a school record discuss throw from
Trevor Sinard.
The day started off with Sinard setting a Milligan school record with a 52.12m launch of the discuss to place second.
Dillon Handshey had a personal best in the event with a mark of 44.79, and Landy Buckles was the final thrower at 43.52m.
In men's shot put, Sinard led the Buffs with a 14.26m throw in fifth place, while
Zion Reddick recorded a mark of 13.47m in seventh place.
The high jump saw strong performances from multiple Buffs, as
Conner Mowell tied for second place, clearing 1.81m. Jamison Hunt posted a personal best mark of 1.76m, and
Landon York also recorded a personal best with a clearance of 1.71m.
Dillon Handshey capped off the men's field events with a toss of 45.13m in the hammer throw.
On the women's side,
Hope Arnold finished in third place in the high jump, clearing 1.42m.
Autumn Stanley rounded out the women's field performances with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, recording a mark of 9.63m.
Next up, the two squads will travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays hosted by NCAA DI North Carolina State University. The Raleigh Relays will take place on March 26-28.
