Began: 2020 | Season: 2026-27 is her 6th season
Overall record at Milligan entering 2026-27 season: 123-58
Kylie Russell Greer, "Coach Ky," joined the Milligan women’s basketball staff as assistant coach in 2017 and became the program's head coach in April, 2020.
During Greer’s 6 seasons at the helm, the Buffs have won 123 games, 2 Regular Season Championships, 2 Tournament Championships, 1 Tournament Runner-Up, and appeared in 3 NAIA National Tournaments. Greer was named AAC Coach of the Year in 24-25, 25-26, and was a member of the 2022-23 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 class.
The program has had 3 NAIA All American awards over the last 6 seasons. Jaycie Jenkins in 21-22 and 24-25. Semaj Clark in 25-26. Both were name WBCA All Americans as well. Additionally, the team names 4 CSC Academic All District Players each season, and a majority of the team earns Academic All Conference and NAIA Scholar-Athlete Recognitions.
The 2025-2026 team exceeded expectations by winning the AAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship for a second year in a row. The team also earned a bid to the National Tournament for the 3rd season in a row. Milligan has previously made a similar stretch of appearances, with 4 in a row, from 1996-2000. Semaj Clark was named Conference Player of the Year and NAIA All American this past season.
Going back to the 2020-2021 season, Greer and the Buffs were off to a rocky start. The team was only 8-16 in a shortened, chaotic COVID season. The team played multiple games that were scheduled within 72 hours of tip-off because of constant COVID cancellations.
Despite the challenges of the COVID year, the Lady Buffs propelled to success in the following year. In 2021-2022, they were 25-8 overall, finished conference play 22-2 and lost in the Championship of the Conference Tournament. They finished Nationally ranked at No. 65, one spot out of the NAIA National Tournament. Jaycie Jenkins was named NAIA All American.
The following season (22-23) the Lady Buffs had a solid season, 19-10, but did not make a strong push in the post season.
In 2023-2024, Greer led the Buffs to a 23-8 (19-3 AAC) record. Out of conference, Milligan had 3 wins over teams that were receiving votes nationally. On top of that, Milligan played 3 of the teams that ended up in the NAIA semi-final: University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), Carroll (Mont.), and a win over Providence (Mont.). The team scored 100+ 7 times during the season and their strength of schedule earned them at at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The Buffs lost in the First Round to Georgetown College at Loyola New Orleans.
The 2024-25 Lady Buffs had their most storied season since the late 90’s/early 2000’s, winning the Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Lady Buffs had won multiple Regular Season Conference Championships since the early 2000’s, but it had been since 2001 that they had won the Conference Tournament Title. They sported a 25-8 record overall and went 19-3 in AAC play during the regular season. The Lady Buffs earned a NAIA Tournament First Round win over the No. 6 seeded Oregon Tech Owls. The following day, they lost in the Round of 32 to the home team, Marian Knights. It should be added that Jaycie Jenkins was named All-American, for the second time, and she was the best shooter in the country for all levels of college basketball (FG 54.8%, 3FG 49.2%, FT 93.1%).
Greer, the 2015 Milligan alumna played for four seasons under long-time coach Rich Aubrey, her predecessor. Before joining the staff at Milligan, she coached multiple high school and middle school travel teams (2012-2017). Twelve of her former travel team went on to play college basketball, 3 have played at Milligan. Greer served as the Director of High 5 Training (2011-2020), coaching basketball skills development through individual workouts, small group sessions and camp settings.
Greer and some members of the Lady Buffs annually collaborate with Navajo coaches to run basketball camps in New Mexico and share the gospel. Greer is also active with sports ministry organizations including Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Crossfire Ministries. She also teaches a few sport management classes at Milligan.
Greer played for Milligan from 2011 to 2015. She graduated with honors in exercise science and went on to earn a master’s degree in sport management from East Tennessee State University in 2017. Before playing at Milligan, Greer enjoyed a successful career as an athlete at Alcoa High School.
Kylie Russell Greer married her husband Logan, a 2012 alumnus of Milligan, in May 2021. They have a son, Russell J. Greer.
