Lady Buffs win fourth straight AAC match

Wise, Va. (Oct. 20, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball team kept their win streak alive Tuesday night winning their fourth AAC game in a row as they defeated the Lady Cavilers of UVA-Wise. The Lady Buffs defeated the Lady Cavs in four sets (25-20, 25-20, 17-25, 25-21).

AAC hitter of the week, Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.), led the Lady Buffs offense with 13 kills in the four sets, while senior Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) was a kill behind with 12. Fellow senior Meredith Lynch (Lexington, Ky.) tallied another double-double as she recorded 30 assists and 16 digs for the Lady Buffs. Defensively, AAC libero of the week, Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.), notched 34 digs to lead both squads in digs. 

“Tonight's game was a great building block for us,” commented Head Coach Doneva Bays. “The last four wins have really given us the confidence and momentum we need to face off against Union on Thursday. I am pleased to see the team pull together and continue to get wins even though we are battling injuries. This is a testament to our tremendous senior leadership.”

With the win, the Lady Buffs advance to 14-11 overall and 8-3 in league play, as the Lady Cavs fall to 8-16 overall and 4-10 in the AAC.

Milligan will be in action against AAC foe Union College (Ky.) on Thursday Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. Additionally, the Lady Buffs have designated Thursday night's game to be the Dig for the Cure night in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
