Lady Buffs pull off 4 set thriller

Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 3, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball squad fell in the opening set, but won the next three in succession to knock off Montreat College 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21).

Leading the offensive attack was junior Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) who recorded a match high 15 kills. Senior Meredith Lynch (Lexington, Ky.), playing in her final match in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, chalked up 10 kills and eight digs. AAC setter of the week, Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.), had a double-double in the victory with 44 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the Lady Buffs in digs with 25.

“I think it was a great win overall,” commented Head Coach Doneva Bays. “Our bench really helped us tonight, but the majority of the credit goes to our seniors. Playing in their last home game of their careers, they really stepped up big and helped get us the win.”

The Lady Buffs travel to Waleska, Ga., Friday, Nov. 6, to face off against Reinhardt College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
