Milligan College, Tenn. (Dec. 2, 2009) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team beat AAC opponent Union College 78-71 to take the top seed on the AAC standings. The two teams were tied, both having 2-0 records against conference teams.
The Lady Buffs were up by 11 in the first half, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 40-29. Union bounced back after the second half and outscored Milligan's ladies by four points 42-38. In the end, the Lady Buffs' first half was too hot for the Lady Bulldogs and left them panting in a race to catch up.
Leading all scorers for the night, junior All-American
Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) scored 26 points. Sophomore
Alisha Mainer (Flag Pong, Tenn.) recorded a double-double for the night, scoring 14 points and rebounding 11 balls. Freshman
Jaimee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) scored into the double digits with 10 points for the night.
The Lady Buffs' win takes their conference record to 3-0 and their overall record to 8-3.
The Lady Buffs hope to build off of their four straight wins as they host Covenant College on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.
