Milligan College, Tenn. (Dec. 5, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's basketball  team notched their second win in as many games Saturday afternoon over Covenant  (Ga.) College, 85-67.
The Buffs clung to a 39-24 halftime lead courtesy  of an impressive 48 percent shooting performance from the field. In the first  half, the Buffs forced 14 Scot turnovers and out rebounded their opponents,  17-15. Four minutes into the game, the buffs went into an 8-0 run, taking the  score to 18-6; in the final minute, Milligan went on another run to take their  lead to 15 points.
In the second half, Milligan shot for 70 percent of  their field goals. The Buffs also posted great numbers from their bench: the  Buffs' bench outscored the Scots' bench 45-30. Five minutes in, the Buffs' went  on another drive, outscoring the Scots 7-2. Again, in the 13th minute, Milligan  heated up the court with an 11-0 scoring drive, taking the lead up to  30.
Offensively, 
Dustin McConnell (Kingsport, Tenn.) was  the top scorer for the night, sinking 20 points. 
Justin Sylvester  (Kingsport, Tenn.), 
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas),  and 
Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) also scored in the double  digits, tallying 15, 11 and 10 points respectively. Sylvester notched six  assists for the night, and Seymour was the Buffs' top rebounder, pulling down 9  balls.
“Our goal going into the game was to be the aggressors and to set  the tempo,” said Head Coach 
Bill Robinson. “It was important to  get another win and get some momentum heading into the Christmas  break.”
With the win, the Buffs' AAC record remains the same at 2-1, but  their overall record improves to 3-7.
The Buffs  travel to NCAA Division I Appalachian State University Thursday, Dec. 17, for an  exhibition matchup against the Mountaineers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7  p.m.
