Lady Buffs dominate fifth set for victory

Lookout Mountain, Ga. (Sept. 22, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball team (6-5, 1-1) dominated the fifth set against the Lady Scots of Covenant College Tuesday, on the road. The Lady Buffs won 3-2 over the Lady Scots (18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-16, 15-12).  

Milligan was led tonight by the hard hitting senior hand of Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) who tallied a game high 18 kills. Sophomore libero Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) helped the Lady Buffs defensively with 19 digs, while newcomer Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) was just two digs behind with 17. Freshman setter Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) totaled 27 assists, eight kills and seven digs against the Lady Scots.  

“I am excited to walk away from here tonight with the win,” commented Head Coach Doneva Bays. “I was especially pleased with how the girls were so focused and ready to compete after a long trip. Winning on the road at Covenant is an impressive feat.” 

The Lady Buffs travel to Union College Thursday, Sept. 24, to take on the Lady Bulldogs for an AAC matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
