Barbourville, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball team got out to a slow start Thursday night as they faced off against AAC member school Union College. The Lady Buffs (6-6, 1-2) fell to the Lady Bulldogs (8-3, 4-1) on the road 3-1. ÂÂ
Milligan struggled to find their rhythm during the opening match as they fell victim to a 5-25 opening set loss. The Lady Buffs battled back taking the second set 25-23. The match belonged to the Lady Bulldogs though as they took the deciding sets 13-25 and 22-25. ÂÂ

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) tallied 24 assists and seven kills on the night for the visiting Lady Buffs. The defensive charge was led by sophomore libero
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) who had a team high 14 digs. Seniors
Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) and
Meredith Lynch (Lexington, Ky.) led the Lady Buffs in kills with eight apiece. ÂÂ
“It was a sub-par effort tonight, but we will definitely bounce back,” commented Head Coach
Doneva Bays. “We are looking forward to getting back home and hosting our next two AAC matches.”ÂÂ
The Lady Buffs host Tennessee Wesleyan (
Athens, Tenn.) on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. This AAC matchup is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
