Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buffs rebounded from a two game losing streak as they knocked off Tennessee Wesleyan 3-0 on Friday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
In the first set, the Lady Buffs came out on all cylinders as they took the set 25-12. Milligan kept the pressure on the Lady Bulldogs as they took the second set by a score of 25-19, and then secured the match win with a 25-18 victory in the third set.
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) had 30 assists in the contest.
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) and
Ashley Agin (Atlanta, Ga.) had 12 digs apiece, while
Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) added 10 digs for Milligan.
Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) and
Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had nine and eight kills, respectively.
"It's been a tough week because we had two losses earlier in the week," Head Coach
Doneva Bays said. "I'm really excited about the way my girls bounced back tonight with a conference win. Tennessee Wesleyan is definitely improved since the last time we played them, and I am really excited about getting a conference win."
With the win, Milligan improves to 14-8 and 6-2 in the AAC.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when they host Mars Hill College in a nonconference match inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
