Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2010) --- The Milligan College volleyball team came up short as they fell 3-0 to NCAA Division II Mars Hill College on Tuesday night inside of Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
After falling 25-18 in the first set, the Lady Buffs battled back, but they were unable to take the second set as they fell 25-23. Despite a hard fought effort, Milligan was unable to force extra sets as Mars Hill took the third set by a score of 25-16.
AAC Setter of the Week
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 32 assists and 10 digs, while
Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) led the team in kills with 11 and also recorded seven digs.
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the Lady Buffs with 17 digs, while
Ashley Agin (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 12 digs apiece.
"That one stings a little bit," Head Coach
Doneva Bays said. "It is always great competition to play a Division II team, but we have to start taking care of our part. We have to eliminate our mistakes and start terminating our volleys."
With the loss, Milligan falls to 16-9 overall and remains at 6-2 in the AAC.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when they travel to North Greeneville University in Tigerville, S.C., for another nonconference match. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
