Lady Buffs fall to Montreat

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buffs came up short as they fell 3-0 to AAC leader Montreat College inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.

After Montreat took the first set by a score of 25-14, the Lady Buffs bounced back, but came up short as in the second set 25-21. The third set saw Milligan rally to a 17-11 lead, but they were unable to hold on as Montreat stormed back to take the set by a score of 25-23.

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) led the way with 23 assists and 14 digs. Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) led the way in digs with 17 and added eight kills. AAC Libero of the Week Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) added 16 digs, while Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Lady Buffs in kills with nine.

With the loss, Milligan falls to 9-3 in AAC action and 20-10 overall.

“I am a little disappointed that we came out so slow,” Head Coach Doneva Bays said. “Montreat came out ready to play and they were really focused from the start of the first game. I think the biggest difference in the game was our unforced errors.”
The Lady Buffs return to action on Friday, Oct. 29, when they travel to Waleska, Ga., for an AAC battle with Reinhardt University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
