Mars Hill, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2010) --- The Milligan College volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Mars Hill, N.C., and the Lady Buffs came up short as they fell 3-0 in nonconference action to the Lady Lions of Mars Hill.
The Lady Buffs took the first set to the wire, but was unable to hold on as they fell 26-24. The second and third set saw Milligan try to keep up with their NCAA Division II foe, but they fell 25-15 in both sets.
Former Dobyns-Bennett standout
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 25 digs in the contest.
Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 12 kills and eight digs, while
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) had 27 assists and five digs.
Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) and
Emilee Hale (Morristown, Tenn.) had eight kills apiece.
The Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 23-13 and an AAC mark of 10-4.
Milligan will begin the 2010 AAC tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Meadowview Conference and Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn. The brackets will be unveiled later in the weekend.
