Boca Raton, Fla. (Dec. 29, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buffs basketball team fell 71-50 to Barry University on Wednesday afternoon in the first day of Courtyard by Marriott Holiday Classic hosted by Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. The loss snaps Milligan's eight-game win streak.

Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) scored four points in the early going to help give the Lady Buffs an early 7-5 lead. However, Barry went on a 9-0 run that sparked them to take a 34-24 lead into the half. The second half saw the Lady Buccaneers slowly add to their lead despite a hard fought effort from the Lady Buffs.

Mandela led the way with 15 points, while Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) added 11 points and four assists.

With the loss, Milligan drops to 11-4 on the year.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Thursday, Dec. 30, when they face host Lynn University on the second and final day of the holiday tournament. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
