Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Milligan basketball falls short to ASU

Boone, N.C. (Dec. 30, 2010) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team fell 91-71 to Appalachian State in their final exhibition game of the season on Saturday night inside the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C.

The Buffs kept pace with the NCAA Division I Mountaineers in the early going as a Hudson Fricke (Greeneville, S.C.) 3-pointer and a layup from former Dobyns-Bennett standout Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) kept Milligan within one point in the opening minutes. App State opened up the first sizable advantage in the game with a 13-0 run. However, the Buffs responded with an 8-0 run of their own to close their gap to five points with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. That was as close as the Buffs could get in the first half as they trailed 43-36 at the half.

The opening of the second half saw Appalachian add to their advantage with a 9-0 run, and the Buffs were unable to overcome the deficit for the remainder of the game.

The Buffs were led by Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas), who recorded 16 points. Justin Sylvester (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 15 points, while Fricke added 14 points. Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) had nine points, and Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the team in rebounds with eight.

Milligan remains 3-8 on the year.

The Buffs return to action on Monday, Jan. 3, when they travel to Alice Lloyd College. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
